Birds on a feeder

I set up a little bird feeder a couple of weeks ago and they have been hesitant (at least while i was watching) about actually getting on the feeder. It's meant more for the smaller type bird (as is the seed) but the white winged doves don't care as you can see by this photo. There are two of them on one side (hence the lopsidedness) and one little finch-type bird on the other. I had been spreading some seed on the ground as well to draw them in and it seems to have worked!

This Tuesday is for the Birds

Today is Tuesday and i don't feel i've accomplished much of anything this week. I've been off from work since last Friday. Taking a short "staycation". It was a dreary weekend - cloudy, chilly and rain. Today was the first time we have seen sunshine in the past few days. I've been trying to spruce up my garden and finish up some projects.
Some White Winged Doves have finally decided to come to my feeder that i put up last week. They seem to be having some difficulties as they are too big and my feeder is too small. They teeter and the birds lose their balance. They do love eating the seed that spills on the ground until our little dog runs out and chases them off. i managed to get some photos of them in the trees where they would fly to wait until the dog goes back in the house and they can go back down for more seed.

Later i took a walk to a nearby park. There were a couple of mom and older people taking what must be their regular morning walks. A couple of ducks were swimming along hoping someone would toss them a couple of pieces of bread. When we were younger, my mom would bring us to this same little area to feed the ducks. They never seem to get enough of the bread.
I've lived in this suburb for 40 years now and not much has changed. And here it is almost at the end of my week and not much has changed around the house either. All the projects i wanted to get done are for the most part still undone. I will have to be super woman during the next 2 days and see what i can get accomplished. If i can get my files cleared out and everything else filed aways properly that will be a huge accomplishment. Then my sewing table will once more be my sewing table vs. my catch all table.

365-18 The Birds

Driving around while doing some errands i came across this site at a busy corner. For some reason all these birds had congregated in this area. It was quite noisy and seemed to be some kind of bird party in progress - they were a chirpin and making a fuss. It did bring to mind that Alfred Hitchcock classic The Birds starring Tippi Hedren (Melanie Griffith's mom) - only those birds didn't make a sound. If you haven't seen it - the movie takes place around early 50s i guess in anytown America. And one day the citizens notice the birds kind of just are everywhere - like in the photo - and watching. These aren't your cute little sparrows but the large, black crow-looking birds. And one day these birds just go berserk and start attacking everyone . That part is gross, not a movie you watch with little ones around as they will never look at a bird the same again. If you like suspenseful, scary movies this is a good one to rent - creepy...
